Numbers

I remember when we first met
In the 2nd grade
I stole your hat at recess
You know, the 1 with the dog on it.
I took it because it was a piece of you
But you could always run faster than I
You caught me every day for 2 years
Exactly what I wanted

That yellow Voltron lion is mine, by the way.
When I married you, I got 1/2 your stuff
( It's written somewhere in the contract. You know, the one I can never find, but can always add rules to. That contract. )
You can have the Green and the Red and the Blue one.
I get the yellow one.
See? I'm only asking for 1/4 of the 4.
I just want the 1 you always gave Brian.
I guess he was your best friend
And I was just the brown eyed girl that followed you
Everywhere
But still,
I think I deserve it after these 11 years together.
(Well, 22 if you count ALL the time I've known you)
Call it an early 29th birthday present

On our 6th anniversary of dating we got married.
( That's 2,190 days too many. I would have married you that first date. Because I knew I was going to marry you since I was 7. You were just a little behind in your timing ).
Only 9 people were there to see the Mayor call me Leslie
Well, it was him and the 8 of us.
(By the way, who's Leslie?)
I only have 5 photos from that day.

On our 3rd wedding anniversary you proposed.
On the foot path near Iargo Springs
(You know, there are 294 steps to the bottom and I felt every one)
Asked me to grow old with you
As if I ever had a choice in the matter
Since we were young, I've grown older with you
And I'll grow old, older, oldest with you

We've moved 6 times
From dorm to apartment to Lansing to Raleigh
Owned 2 houses
And made the trip home to Michigan
6 times in the last year and 1/2.
That's a lot of time in a car with a sleeping wife
Thankfully I don't snore.

The numbers keep growing.
Everyday we add to our time together
I promised myself this wouldn't have a sappy ending
Like the 3 other poems I've written for you
But I lied.
I love you more each day,
Every minute of every day.
So there.
(I told you that you were stuck with me!)

What an incredibly sweet poem...  I can see your love woven through every word... *sniff*

Thanks for the favorite, honey :)
Make sure your Cupid reads this one. She's always wondering how D. and I met. For someone who doesn't give a lot of details in/about her life, she sure wants to know about other people's love....hehehehe. I guess it makes it all balance out. Yin and yang.

Oh! And your care package is done, but I lost your address. Send me a note to remind me. And I might even put it in my address book this time ;/

I actually READ that poem to my Cupid as soon as I saw it last night....  We were both going "Awwwww!" over it. Yes, yes, we're SUCH hopeless romantics!  My Cupid loved the poem!!

Oh yes, I know what you mean about Cupid wanting to know about others but being very quiet about personal details....it really amuses me I must say...LOL  It took me a while to realise just how little my quiet Cupid reveals to others...  I'm not quite so quiet, as you well know...:pffft:

The note including our address is on the way, I am still amassing strange Kiwi foods to subject you to, the whole thing has been quite educational for me.  Gives me yet another excuse to walk through the candy aisle and go "What's that?" LOL

LOL..it's hard to look objectively at a poem that is so carefree, you know? Nothing serious here, just pointing out exactly what he and I have shared for years. Thanks for the comments on everything else :) I appreciate the feedback very much. :)
