it was quite interesting; to stare at you. to be able to. so used to dart-away-eyes, furtive glances, quick goodbyes. and my level headed dream, scared me into changing, how I seem.
Down by the lakeside, at the edge of the pool. I wish it had been me, not a reflection of you.
and your sugar spun hair, glistened and shattered, when I reached to touch. and my pulse pounded, as I realized what happened, and loosened my clutch. but the damage was done, and the understanding was gone (to be no more than a ‘what if’ from a song.) and I discovered the painful process, of a heart breaking. splinters in ice, as my shoulders started shaking. you weren’t ready for me, nor I for you. but I can’t tell you how much I wanted it to be true. if only for a charm, to hold in my heart, to carry me on, as love ends and starts. and now farewell. and now our goodbyes? goodbye to my first one and only, to my pretty girl-woman, with her beautiful eyes.
